India-Pakistan cricket has been the greatest and longest rivalry between the two countries and is renowned throughout the world, and has been in the pages of history even before the Independence of both countries, which were then living under the rule of the British in the Indian subcontinent. Even then they didn’t live in peace and harmony although their language, traditions, and culture resemble each other as compared with the British, who were totally foreign in all aspects to the local people. The conditions back then were worse, and one would’ve thought that time would’ve healed the wounds, but it got even worse, diplomatically, after their independence in 1947. The cricket, as brought by the British in the subcontinent, was played by both the countrymen quite enthusiastically. And it served as the first sign of peace when both the countries played their first match ….. Read more

Bhaiya, how long will it take for the two burgers that I ordered twenty minutes ago?”

Year they are almost ready, just give me ten more minutes. My burger stall has never been so crowded before and I’m the only guy who has to make and serve the burgers and also to pack the burgers for those who want to have it as take away, so please wait for ten more minutes I’ll make you two special burgers just like old days.” The burger vendor replied apologetically.

What choice did I have at that moment other than to wait for ten more minutes for my order to get ready. Yes, that was very true what he said about his stall booming with customers, that it had never been that crowded. Moreover, it was a weekend night in the never sleeping city of over two crore population of Pakistan.

I’d been coming to that stall for five years. I was back in college when I first ate his burgers and they were as delicious as they were then. Now I was doing my research and that stall was still standing there as it is, like his father before him, who taught him all his business and passed it to his son, and went to the village to spend the rest of his days on the income of that stall. They were never able to turn it into a proper shop as the income was barely keeping the whole family alive. They were just happy with what they had, keeping faith in God who they thought knew better than both of them.

I’d met his father only once on the eve of my result day when I gave a party to my friends as I got the highest grades in my class. It was the same guy, the same spot, the same taste; in front of a bookstore and alongside the busiest road of the block, just on the edge of the road, as not to become a source of traffic jam.

The area has so developed since last two years. Before all the tall buildings and plaza malls, there were dozens of slums scattered all around the society. But thanks to the capitalists that all the marshy slums are now gone. On my house side of the road, there are tall buildings but the other side of the road is underprivileged. And all the slums have shifted to the other side of the road. Now, the slums all the time beg outside the malls parking slot but the guard are always on the foot to beat the slums as soon as they saw any near the commercial buildings. I hope they soon vacate our area too and then there will be cleanliness and no sight of poverty.

There was a milkshake shop behind the stall and its chairs and tables were spread out on the pavement leaving no way for the passengers to pass, so they had to walk on the edge of the road, crossing above the pavement and the burger stall at the same time.

The burger stall was a metal box on three sides, partially glass, and on the only open side this boy stood and made burgers. The metal box had a big metal plate under which a gas stove burnt. There were two cabins on each side on which salads, ketchup, kabab, mayonnaise, buns and dozens of eggs were placed. The whole place would hold as much space as the length of the wide spread hands of Jack and Rose.

It was a very fine night of April, a weather ought to be enjoyed alone in the darkness of the abyss. Slow breeze caressed my face, few drizzles blurred my vision, and the smell of the heat and water colliding with each other was addictive-enlightening a new world.

As I was relishing the scene, my friend called me asking me about the Sunday’s study circle arrangements in a local coffee shop near my university. I discussed plans with him for upcoming topic on the Asian Marxist Review that will be delivered by a special guest from the leading revolutionary party leader himself to mobilize youth and students from different universities.

As soon as I was off from the call, the burger guy packed my burgers for the go. As I pay him, suddenly a roar of thunderstorm sprang out from absolutely nowhere. It wasn’t the kind of thunderstorm that I saw on the sky rather I saw no light from anywhere, all I could hear was the grumbling of a couple of trucks and shouts of dozens of people. Before I had the time to look back, the three waiters of the milkshake shop quickly grabbed their chairs and tables and ran inside the shop. It all happened so fast that the guy from the truck jumped off from the vehicle and with the speed of lightening snatched the tables from the waiters and threw it in the long vehicle, breaking them.

On their trucks, that were blocking the road, was written: L.D.A (Lahore Development Authority), a governmental organization which seals illegal food stalls and fruit vendors. Illegal in the sense that their stalls come within ten inches of the road. Within a few minutes the road was completely jammed and the noise of horns and shouts of angry drivers reverberated throughout the busiest road of the block.

They dealt with those illegal small time businessmen by grabbing their stall utilities and throwing everything they could get into a huge truck. They quickly moved for the burger stall, threw the salad bowl, Kabab mixture, eggs, and burger buns on the road. They dispatched the gas cylinder from the stove and three bulky men wearing torn and stained Shalwaar Kameez, picked the metal box quite comfortably and threw it in the truck, breaking the glass of the burger stall, alongside the fruit vendors’ carts, their balancing tools, and their fruits that were crushed in the process under the jack-boot.

That boy didn’t know what hit him, he seemed quite as amazed as I was with all this drama, looked completely blown and in a shock, as I handed the boy money for my two burgers and walked away with delicious burgers and went on with my research paper on inequality and injustice in Pakistan.

To know of my current situation, you must know what brought me here after three years on the very same place which changed my life. It’s almost been a year since I started this blog. The reason for writing this blog was love and rage. Why love and rage? Strange, isn’t it? Well, there’s a story, I must say a long story. It’s a story, a kind of story which can’t be summed up into few scribbles of words or told to someone in their first meeting. I’m not saying it’s a fable about someone in following his dream, or falling in love, facing heart bleed obstacles, facing fear of failure, having a nervous-breakdown in front of an audience, finding a new home, understanding a universal language. It’s the story of being a back to back Ravian. It’s a story from 719 to 315. It’s the story of my life from Gc to Gcu. I will try to be as precise as possible, not to make you feel so bored. Just a quick story about myself.
When I was sixteen my life was changed forever.

I studied in the best college of Pakistan. The college, where students from all over the country came to enroll themselves in but only very few gets the chance to get admission because of its high merit. I wanted to pursue my career in medical but I also wanted to study in Government College. I got five short of 95% to get into pre-medical program. Either I had to change my field of interest to get admission in the college or I had to change the college to go in the desired field. I chose the former. And soon I realized that it was one of the best decisions of my life.

I was very lucky to study in the “dream collegeor between the “creme of all Pakistan. This place was everything and way better than whatever I imagined. I made full use of the opportunity and blend myself in different societies and extra and co-curricular activities. It was there that I came to realize that studies are, of course, important but they only make the one tenth of education. There is more to education than just course studies. While the true purpose of education was to think for yourself. Not to prepare oneself for the future life but to pay heed to the present and dig down your inner self and find out who do you want to be, not what your teachers or parents wants you to be, but you. I met students and teachers having extraordinary minds who only talked about different ideas, individuality, compatibility, and creativity. It was all new to me. The environment. The atmosphere. I was loving every single second of my existence. All of these, changes, were happening so fast that the journey was just one step away before coming to an end.

The second and last year of college started off with a bang. I believe that every student has a true mentor who truly enlightens and ignites the flames of who-do-you-want-to-be. Time has a funny way with forgetfulness because time is making fool of us again and again. I only remember his one speech which was something like, Life is too short to listen to what others have to say, what others want you to be. Say what you want to say. Do what you want to do. Be who you want to be. Learn to love the true one, the lucky one in your life and never ever let her go. Just be awesome in your own ways, in your own flow, in your own eyes because only one thing will matter in the end—You.
Who was he of my life. He was the O Captain, my Captain of my life. Under his shadow I came to realize that all I wanted to do is just read and write. A writer. In a society where only two kinds of students live, either they want to be a doctor or an engineer (not because they want to do rather they think they want to do it, in the end, not knowing what to do) Any other field other than that was just, as people say, has no future. Which, no doubt, was true. I was very lucky to decide what I want to do with my life not knowing at that time that making a decision for your career was the easiest part.
My best two years of life came to an end with the evergreen last day celebration in college. Now it was time to farewell college, and a time to choose the desired career field with the best university—the most difficult time for every student of Pakistan.

It was very hard to convince my parents to let me decide for my own field. It was hard convincing them that I wanted to be a writer answering every rebuttal possible. In the end, all they could muster was, it’s your life, which meant: Do whatever you want to do but we don’t support you.
So I applied in the best literature university in Pakistan—Government College University, and aced the test while I was left out in the interview considering I wasn’t good enough to qualify for this year English lit programme. My roller coaster ride abruptly went downhill leaving me breathless and with nasty scars. I was very publicly out. And then started the most miserable time of my life.

First of all, the rejection was very unbearable. Being rejected from the same institute where you spent your two years was incomprehensible. And then started the criticism of parents. Every word was like a sharp blow of a steel knife. The I-told-you-so beaming looks from their eyes. I was angry and miserable. My whole career was in jeopardy even before it began. My dreams in thousand tiny invisible pieces, my goals buried under the word-rejection, everything in ruin, and rightly so-everything in ashes.
It’s true that, “In the darkest days, God puts the best people in your life.” I met an angel who gave me a shoulder to cry on, wings to fly with and a new road of positivity, aspiration. Who, in short, made me believe in the light at the end of the dark tunnel. For that cupid, I started writing. The rage of getting rejected and love of being accepted, things starts happening when fire meets water.

A whole year passed which made me believe in myself and in my vision. Just like my fight song, I inspire myself. I stand by my side. I never leave myself alone. Moreover, I stay strong for myself because at the end of the day, it’s just you, yourself for yourself. The admissions reopened this fall and I applied in the same program in the same university. And I cleared both the written test and interview. Had I been enrolled last year; I wouldn’t have known the value of it. You get the best kind of feeling, which is indescribable, when you realize your destiny and didn’t let the obstacles, the voices of others stop you from realizing your personal legend in following your dream.
Sitting in the same classroom on the same bench where I carved out my dream, and writing this story made me realize that everything happens for a reason, we may don’t see it at that point but it’s the best path God has chosen for us. Looking back on that day when my life was turned to hell, I can say for sure that being rejected from here last year was the best thing that could ever happen to me. I still believe that I’m just at the beginning and have a very long road to travel. I don’t know where this journey will take me but I know this is where it all begins.

‘I am the greatest, i said that even before i knew i was’

Legends never die they always stay alive in our memories and in the hearts of those who love them. Born in Kentucky on January 17th 1942, Cassius Marcellus Clay, Jr. Clay began his training when he was 12 with an odd twist in fate. His bike was stolen, and Ali told a police officer that he wanted to beat up the thief. “Well, you better learn how to fight before you start challenging people” that’s when Ali began his training in local boxing club. Chasing Dawn

The breezes at dawn have secrets to tell you
Don’t go back to sleep!
You must ask for what you really want.
Don’t go back to sleep!
People are going back and forth
across the doorsill where the two worlds touch,
The door is round and open
Don’t go back to sleep!
-Rumi

Scattered white and grey clouds, light drizzle, perfect weather for a dawn walk. The quietness, the peace, that is what inspired me to take a walk on this cloudy-rainy weather. Not even a single chirp of a bird or the song sung by rooster. Previous night was hell of a show as I followed the clues of destruction left behind by the last night hurricanes. Sweet destruction, more appropriate to say, as the ground is showing a clear reflection of distracted sky. Everywhere I look, it’s a sight of Heaven. The moon is in its last phase, few stars are visible, soaking every moment they could before they hide behind the glory of sun. I can forecast the weather; it’s going to be Awesome day.

Empty basketball and volleyball courts, empty cricket grounds. Empty swings being swung by the chilly breeze. The grass is damp, oh the feelings it gives when you walk on it barefooted. Flowers are ripe and blooming with sweet love, spreading everywhere. Water drop by drop, tear by tear, dripping of the leaves. Everything looks fresh as its been born overnight. The crunchy sound it creates when you walk on the fallen leaves. Oh the voice of each rustle of a leave, they are fulfilling their purpose even after they are broken down. They are keeping me at peace.

The sun is rising ever so slowly enjoying every bit of what moon left. The birds are ever so excited. My soul is screaming for a single touch of golden glimpse on my skin. Swan taking bath in crystal clear water. I love when the dogs fly and the cats bark, see my world is upside down. You might call me crazy but believe me I’m not crazy I’m just out of my mind. Some people never go out of their minds. What truly horrible lives they must lead.

At last, the glory rises with its golden wings covering the whole sky. The sunshine on my face is warm enough to make my heart sing and my soul dance. My whole body is directed towards the sun, soaking every single breath of sun. my body is shivering with the warmth touch of sun. My one eye sees while the other feels every moment. Most people don’t understand that every single day is a miracle, every single second is a blessing. Beauty is indeed in the eyes of the beholder.

“Go tell the majestic sun
to preserve its precious rays,
We’ll teach the core of our own beings
 to glow with its light”

Does She Love Me?

She may be weird to you sometimes or she may be the most awesome person you ever met. She may be happy sometimes or she may be sad. She may talk casual with you or sometimes she may talk romantic. She may love Dogs or may even hate cats. Her favorite word may be MINE or maybe not. She may like to get on roof and watch stars and moon all night long. She may like to take long walks at dawn. She may like to watch sunrise more than the sunset. Instead of being alone, she may like to be in solitude. She may want to fly instead of staying on ground. She may want to live an adventuress life. Girls mood changes from time to time within a blink of an eye. No doubt, each and every one of your girl is awesome in some distinct unique awesome way.

If she’s amazing, she won’t be easy. If she’s easy, she won’t be amazing.
If she’s worth it, you won’t give up. If you give up, you’re not worthy.
Truth is, everybody is going to hurt you, you just gotta find the ones worth suffering for.

In the start of every relation, both of you have no idea what life may have for both of you in future therefore it is good to know where the emergency exit is. First condition of any relationship is that, it should be a two-way road relation. As it is the base of any relation. You cannot stay in a relationship when the other person has no interest of moving forward. That type of relation would be a total mess. So, it is important to know that you both are interested in a relation or you both have same intentions towards each other. How will you know that it is a two-dimension relation? When the time given by you in a specific relation is the same of the time given by her, you will get a clear cut idea that it’s a Perfect relationship. But that doesn’t clarify that either you both have same feelings for each other or not. As you give time to a relation, your roots (of relationship) will get deeper into the ground. As the time moves on these roots gets deeper and deeper.

“Your branches can only reach high if your roots go deep”
                                                                                                   -Brian logue

When you think about her, when she isn’t with you, you desperately wait for her text or you die to meet her. You’ll feel the presence of some strange feelings within you. But you may not recognize or understand that feeling because you may have never experienced it before. As she also gives sign you receive OMENS, you’ll know that both of you have same feelings but don’t confess because as I’ve told you that girls mood often swings. The only way to be sure of her love for you is when she confesses it by herself or you just simply guess it by reading signs, if you are a good observer. If you guessed it right, you’re lucky. If not, let’s not talk about that condition. The SIGNS!!!

What signs you’ll get when she loves you? To be precise there are millions but for instance she will give you the time which you deserve. She will respect you and your privacy, she will be waiting for that right time when you’ll be able to share your feelings with her and she’ll be glad once you tell her. She will care for you and will take care of your health or meal. She will even change her mood for you. She will be honest with you in all the things she shared with you. She will start forgiving you for the things you’re sorry no matter how big the mistake is. She will be the perfect secret keeper for you and will also share her secrets with you and only with you. She will become an open book for you. She will love to get to know about you and your family. She will get jealous when you’re being shared among others not because she doesn’t trust you but because she loves you more than anyone. No matter how weird your past or present is, she will listen to your problems patiently and will try to heal your scars and wounds with her love and affection. Those things, which she hates doing for herself, she will do happily only for the sake of seeing a glimpse of smile on your lips. She will know about your mood or feelings without you showing her, it may be like a Deja-vu thing of her and will try to cheer you up with no stones unturned. Most importantly, she will help you to search the meaning of your life, even if she’s lost. We don’t need all of these signs, we just need one sign and that would be enough, if you didn’t find any sign then keep looking and searching for it but remember to keep loving her. The only thing which matter in a relation is Trust. When she has given you her most important secrets, you are the keeper and protector of it and when needed, you should make sacrifices to save her trust, her heart, her love.

“The Worst suffering in a persons world is Love and the best remedy for that suffering is Love”

You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She’s not perfect—you aren’t either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break—her heart. So don’t hurt her, don’t change her, don’t analyze and don’t expect more than she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she’s not there and love her always!

“When you can’t believe your eyes, you can always trust your heart. Love makes anything possible.”

Fear of Failure: everything that you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear

Posted on Updated on

What are you afraid off?  What’s your greatest fear that blocks your way to ultimate success?

Wants and fear are two vital factors in our life. These are like walking along holding hands with each other. If you want to move on to get to your desire, you’ve to overcome the fear factor. If you want to accomplish your wants, then you’ve to be courageous and virtuous enough to unplug the socket of fear and remember that the only thing standing between you and your future is fear which can eat you alive. It is never too late to have a fresh start. It’s you who decide what right and what’s easy. Many people spend their life dreaming big but they never fulfill these dreams because they let fear stand in their way. To be a successful person it is necessary to overcome the fears. In reality, everything that you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of fear. Fear isn’t a sin because it comes naturally but we can call it as a curse, so we should exercise caution to get rid of this curse. If you let fear stop you from the things that you are passionate about or dream off, then you’ll end up with loads of regrets and failure.

We must throw some light on the people to whom fear was the main obstacle in their goal. Let’s talk about a famous personality, he was thrown out of his High School football team not due to lesser skills or practice but only due to his short height because he was diagnosed with the Growth Hormone. At that point of utmost disappointment, he didn’t let the fear overcome his desire in fact he fought hard and fought back to accomplish his own desire, his own will. He is currently tLondon-Newshe world’s best football striker on the surface of the earth. He is none other than Lionel Messi. He holds most number of Golden boots in the history of football along with the four Ballon Dior’s. I’m not a fan of football but I’m a biggest fan of Messi spirit and strong desire.

The truth is your emotions are your biggest weapon against your fear and if you can control your emotions then you can control your fear and remember that fear of name increases the fear of the thing itself. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “Do one thing every day that scares you”. So don’t be a fear conscious person. You always have to be yourself no matter what the scenario is. You always have to trust yourself. You know yourself better than any other person and just don’t yourself in the conceptual stages trust yourself throughout the process. If you want to be a fear-less person, then the trick is to think outside the box. If you’ve got the guts to try, then don’t afraid to fail. Anything I’ve ever attempted I was always willing to fail. Fear of Failure is one of the top common success-blockers. Remember every step forward gets you closer to your foal, even if that step is small don’t worry better start small then no start at all because of Fear of Failure. You can’t be paralyzed by fear of failure or you’ll never push yourself. You have to keep on pushing because you believe in yourself and in your vision and you know that it is the right thing to do and success will come. Only failure should be taken into consideration as learning experiences that will lead to better knowledge and new strategies to your road to success. So don’t be afraid of it, embrace it. You have to work hard at what you decide to do. WHY? Because most of the people who want what you want are not willing to make sacrifices to achieve that goal. So if you work harder than the most you’re one step, two steps, ten steps ahead of them. It is important to have fun in life along with the hard-work, of course, but we must remember while partying that someone somewhere is working hard, getting smarter and winning. And here’s the interesting part of this topic: ANYONE can do this. You don’t need a God given gift or to be born with special skills, anyone can work hard, you just have to put your mind into it. Talented people are beaten by those who are willing to work hard. That’s the way it is with everything. No pain no gain so be great and beat the FEAR.
