India-Pakistan cricket has been the greatest and longest rivalry between the two countries and is renowned throughout the world, and has been in the pages of history even before the Independence of both countries, which were then living under the rule of the British in the Indian subcontinent. Even then they didn’t live in peace and harmony although their language, traditions, and culture resemble each other as compared with the British, who were totally foreign in all aspects to the local people. The conditions back then were worse, and one would’ve thought that time would’ve healed the wounds, but it got even worse, diplomatically, after their independence in 1947. The cricket, as brought by the British in the subcontinent, was played by both the countrymen quite enthusiastically. And it served as the first sign of peace when both the countries played their first match ….. Read more
This amazing 201-page thing is more like a Holy b00k to me. Not just this book but every book written by Paulo Coelho. It’s something different, something out of the box, something extravagantly awesome, something that can shake your soul from inside out. No matter the story either a person finding his personal legend or a woman fighting good vs evil, there is always something left in between, something left unsaid, something of a gap un filled and Paulo Coelho fills this gap of questioning and doubts. Every book you read by Paulo Coelho, you’ll at least find a single thing that will put you in deep reverie just like this Holy Book, The Devil & Miss Prym.
The writing of Paulo Coelho is always kind of mystical. He’ll take a simple topic of discussion and will try to explain into such a way, from such different angle that you haven’t had witnessed before. You’ll see those things from different angle, with a sense of sensibility.
Good vs Evil, Angels vs Demons, God vs Devil. How cliché it looks right? Think again!
It’s not a question of judgement but of a mere thought everyone should ask their souls. Think outside the box either you are a religious person or not. This book is not about the story but what the words are saying to each single one of us. Focus on the words. Everyone will feel like this book is especially made for every single of us and it’s not just a mere chance that we read this book randomly but in fact we were destined to read it at precisely the moment when we really need to hear or read every single word written in this book. Remember, nothing in this world happens by chance.
I really loved this book coz it provoked my soul to ask the questions of right and easy, good and bad, light and darkness. It’s never too late to have a fresh start. Whenever I’ll be tempted to react in the same old evil way I’ll ask myself whether I want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future and if the answer is latter then just like Ahab I’ll try to control myself.
I know that I am messed up,
but you never let me give up,
You were there for me when I was alone,
You put light in me when I was filled with darkness,
You put hopes in me when I was desperate,
You understand me like no one can
Those long rides not knowing where we were going,
letting the destiny guide us,
not caring about the future coz believing that everything’s written,
Those long walks discussing our memorable past and present,
not a single word from mouth but still busy in a deep conversation in the crowd,
having all the dirty jokes to ourselves,
and laughing like it’s the last laugh of our existence,
living each moment like it’s our last,
making fun of ourselves among others but still not caring,
connecting with each other origins to know each other from soul,
Yeah I remember
Yeah I remember
When my wings were broken,
when my hopes were crushed,
when my dreams were scattered,
you gave my everything I lack,
just like you gave me your everything,
I promise that I will do that same for you,
I’m gonna stand by you in heaven or hell,
with my heart, with my soul
I never had no one
I could count on,
you stand by me,
and you believe in me,
like nobody ever has,
when my world goes crazy,
you join me and make it double crazy,
you make me feel alive again,
I’ll miss you my best friend
I’ll miss you my brother
Every single book you read of Paulo Coelho you’ll find yourself in a situation where you face yourself with whether your fears, your destiny, your desire, your personal legend. While reading you’ll realize that you are destined to read those exacts words at the right moment in your life when you really needed them. You’ll feel that the only person who really understand your life or the phase you are stuck in your life is Paulo Coelho and he’ll give you solutions of your problem in some exotic awesome ways. Yes, Paulo Coelho is still a mad man coz he had been released from the mental hospital so he could do anything he wants, anything he loves without giving a single fuck what others think about him and yes that’s why he’s Awesome!
This book isn’t a straight forward story yet it’s one of the best stories I’ve ever read apart from the ending which was well less awesome. The first thing that caught my sight while in a bookstore is, “every second of existence is a choice we all make between living and dying.” The only problem with this book is, it’s damn short. The writing, no doubt, is exceptional. Just like the other spiritual stories, this is the story of finding your inner self, putting yourself at ease, diminishing all negative thoughts and doubts about yourself, facing your fears, living each moment of your life as though it’s your life and that makes the life interesting, get out of your routine life and do something different, something extraordinary, just be YOURSELF. Yes, you can do anything you set your mind to.
I’m in love with every character Paulo Coelho have ever introduced, Veronika, Athena, Santiago, Maria. They all taught us a very unique and worthy lesson in their own distant way. They all taught us something worth remembering and something worth trying whether living each moment as your last, being who you are no matter what others think about you, realizing your Personal Legend or finding your inner self. I believe the only problem with the people is that they don’t usually get Paulo Coelho.
FEAR. Fear of failure, fear of success, fear of death, fear of being wrong, fear of any single thing. Human beings are like that; we have almost replace every emotion with fear. It is the worst of the enemies that human being ever faced and we all face one way or another. It’s one of the things that eats and kills the man from the inside from his/her soul and it’s the worst of the diseases. Only person who can cure this disease is us. we have to be courageous and virtuous enough to unplug the socket of fear from our bones from our soul and it’s the only way to survive. You’ll never know what’s beyond your own capabilities if you never gonna try.
Every day is a new day. Every day is a miracle. We can find God in every single moment of our life if we really want to see Him. It’s a wonderful life. LIFE, it’s the best thing that ever existed so as the DEATH. You’ll only know how to Live when you learn who to die. Life grows from within as well as from the outside when you divide yourself with others, with strangers. Open yourself to Love. Love yourself, Love people, Love nature.
It’s a risk to love,
what if it doesn’t work
But what if, it does?
The Great Gatsby, well starting off with the name itself. It wasn’t supposed to be the
name of the book, The Great Gatsby but Under the red, white and blue, suggested by Fitzgerald, shortly before the novel was due to be published, but It was too late and the work was published by Scribner (Fitz agent) as The Great Gatsby. Well wherever you’ll hear the name of this book, it would be regarded as a “classic” and “everyone loves classic” don’t they, no doubt in that, of course. And you ought to read classic once in a lifetime. But I think the classics should be left unread because only then they stay as a “respected book” under one’s eye. Once you read classics, you’ll start having different thoughts about em.
It’s not that I was completely uninterested. Neither was it so great that it compelled me to keep turning the page. Neither that great neither that bad. It was a “just fine” time burning piece. On the surface, The Great Gatsby is a story of the thwarted love between a man and a woman. The main theme of the novel, however, encompasses a much larger, less romantic scope. It is considered as a romantic type of novel but snap out of the bubble coz it’s not even a tiny bit of romantic. Well if I rate this book, I’ll rate it 3 stars out of 5. Why 3? Because I love the way Fitzgerald use the selection of words. That way Is really unique. And also I like this name Fitzgerald. I think this book is highly overrated. Moreover, it wasn’t a success when It was first published and I think it is far from “the Great American Novel”
One thing I really liked in this book is the mysterious eyes of T.J Eckleburg. Staring at those eyes really put me in deep thoughts personally. Well from top of mind I think these eyes symbolizes decayed social and moral values, evidenced in its overarching cynicism, greed, and empty pursuit of pleasure, loss, scars and extreme tragedy in World War. These owl-eyes are well placed in the novel alongside the Ashes of the Ashes. I personally feel, these eyes also show some kind of deep sadness far from our thinking and judgement.
The characters were really… I mean they don’t really know what they are doing. They are confusing in some matter. Just like the narrator Nick, he just wants to be liked so much and wanna avoid trouble and want to have a great career but all he did was to hangout with Tom, Jay, Jordan and most of the time his thoughts are occupied with what’s Jay doing standing on his terrace. Duh-dude focus on your career, your father will not support you more than a month and who’ll pay $80 for your home. And also Mr. Wilson, God he really became a phsyco in the ending. I think Fitzgerald (I’m using this word so much, but I love the sound of it from my lips) made him a maniac just to kill Jay (psst spoiler alert). The worst ending but praise to the start of this book, really put me in thoughts as I read the fourth line. Awesome. All in all, the characters were not clearly defined which stops you from continuing reading but after all it’s a “classic” and you should read classics and add it to your reading list. Lol
It’s not that I didn’t like anything from this book. I loved how the weather changes as the mode of the writing changed. It completely changes the mood of the reader too. The scenes are perfectly illustrating. I LOVED some of the quotes:
~ “The loneliest moment in someone’s life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart, and all they can do is stare blankly.”
~ “Angry, and half in love with her, and tremendously sorry, I turned away.”
~ “I wasn’t actually in love, but I felt a sort of tender curiosity.”
~ “Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you have had”
~ “It’s perfect from your irresistible perfect imagination.”
In summation, there was one thing I really liked about The Great Gatsby:
“It was Short”
P. s: Thank God
It was the best of times,
it was the worst of times,
it was the time of foolishness,
it was the period of chaos,
it was the sky full of shooting stars,
it was the night of two lovers,
it was the spell of magic,
it was the winter of summer,
it was the summer of spring,
it was the spring of autumn,
it was the autumn of winter,
it was the pursuit of happyness
I sing the songs of pure innocence,
the songs of everlasting kiss,
the songs of pure love,
the songs of undying night,
the songs of utter silence,
the songs of pious freedom,
the songs of pleasing pain,
the songs of wise wisdom,
the songs of desirable wish,
the songs of tier dreams,
the songs of eternal peace,
the songs of kingdom of heaven
When I had no eyes I listened.
When I had no ears I thought.
When I had no thought I waited.
When I had no one to trust I trusted myself,
When I had nothing to eat I drank knowledge,
When I had no clothes to wear I wore solace,
When I had fear of failure I played with faith,
When I had nothing to lose I had everything,
You have everything in you, right now,
Everything you need to deal with whatever the world can throw at you,
I think that’s what life is, to
Learn to dance in the rain and
Learn to Live
Life isn’t how many breaths you take,
but it’s the moments that take your breath away,
Drink in the glass of moments,
that takes you far away from this world,
Live moment to moment,
Drink the vine of love and kindness,
Learn to love and let love in,
The one who notice the storm in your eyes,
The silence in your voice,
The heaviness in your heart,
are the ones you need to let in,
There is no more greatness then being in love,
for the two lovers are the lovers of God,
for the two lovers are the messenger of God,
Just have faith and love in your life, in your heart,
for everything that you ever wanted, dreamed of,
There is nothing to be afraid of,
I believe in you my soul,
I believe in the light you contain,
the light to wisdom, courage, poetry and inspiration to spark the inner flame,
Don’t change yourself, just be who you truly are,
not from the outside but from the inside,
keep looking until you found yourself,
I love the person I become,
as I fought for myself, through myself, by myself, from myself
I didn’t change I found myself, and
became the Song of Myself
